A very constructive message, and congrats on the guest, Aaron.
Pence probably won't ever be beloved, likely doesn't have any more future in electoral politics, but an honest and decent man by all appearances, especially by the standards of politics. His reputation is elevated by the state of things in his absence.
For a long time I found JD more relatable than Pence, someone more interested in ideas and in moving beyond broken Republican paradigms of yesteryear to "what comes next."
But it turns out ideas don't really matter when you're trapped in a black hole of stupidity and naked corruption. You probably just need someone capable of avoiding the hole's gravitational pull and doing his job.
I admire the stand VP Pence took on Jan. 6 and thereafter in opposing Trump's corruption and extremism. So I'm disappointed that you failed to ask anything about the most consequential thing he did in defense of the Constitution, and I would argue in defense of the Faith.
I generally like your interviews but was disappointed that you failed to take advantage of your guest's expertise on Trump. For example, I would have loved to hear what he thought about the proposed tariffs, Greenland, Putin/Ukraine, etc...
I hope this is taken as a constructive criticism, as I wish you well and I generally think you do a very good job. Hope you had a Happy Easter!
Mike Pence, seriously? The guy who famously sold out Hoosier Christians to big business by turning a Religious Freedom Restoration Act into queer legal preferences in a trifecta Republican state?
Pence is an Indiana Republican, the very definition of a RINO. In Indiana republicanism died long ago. There are still republicans in Indiana, but few if any go into politics. The party won't allow it. They did everything they could to drive Trump out of the party, but he was convinced that he could not win as an independent or at the controls of a new party. Maybe so but we'll never know. The Uniparty has been in control since 1798 when they were the Democratic-Republican Party.
I’m a huge VP JD Vance fan and very neutral on Pence. That said, good work interviewing former VP Pence!
