Welcome to my weekly digest for July 14, 2023, with the best articles from around the web and a roundup of my recent writings and appearances. My next monthly newsletter is out Monday, and is a look at how “Big Eva” plans to redefine the boundaries of their community by eliminating complementarian gender theology and replacing it with anti-fundamentalism.
I'm a father of 3 daughters - two of which are married with children; the third is adopted and still lives with us. I have 7 grandchildren - just like President Biden. That being said, we homeschooled and raised our daughters to be wives and mothers because the way my wife I understand the Bible, that it is the role God has designed for almost all women and that is the role that gives them the most contentment. I caught a lot of grief (from other Christians) when at their homeschool graduation ceremonies I made it clear that it is the way they were raised - not focused on a career - and they were now eligible for marriage. Needless to say, they were soon married off - my youngest daughter still waiting.
The men who married my daughters are Godly men who knew that their prospective wives were being discipled for their God-given role and discipling them as prospective husbands was a delight. I would submit that there are too many fathers who are raising their daughters for other areas than marriage and children which leads men to try to figure out how to approach these women because the women themselves are confused as they are being prepared for secular - not Godly roles.
Father of five sons here—ages 20-29. Young American men are not lost. They’re living in a broken culture—that they did not break. Twenty years ago people with a clue were noticing young men opting out of running their lives on the no-longer-supported software of the wage slave/provider/protector life pattern. These days we get occasional spates of “What’s Wrong With Young Men?” commentary. I guess it isn’t a real problem until the wage slave/tax mule/cannon fodder supply runs low.
I won’t elaborate on the typical response of the young men in question to this hand-wringing—or of those who care about them. It’s pretty damned salty.
