1. I don't think that it's *making* people selfish so much as it's *allowing them to get away with* selfish actions - because the people on the receiving end either don't understand the jargon, or feel needlessly deferential to therapy, or both.
2. I wonder: did the author not think to ask any men for their opinion? Or did she try and get no response, probably because this is such a stereotypically female concern?
