All I really meant by it is that he comes across as quirkier than I am, or compared to someone like Aaron, who I also haven't met, but not so much so that it's especially remarkable or off-putting, at least in my eyes. At the end of the day, he seems affable and well-adjusted, lives a basically conventional upper middle-class life.

The Collins come across as weird enough that it would be off-putting, even among other high IQ people prone to heterodox or idiosyncratic ways of thinking. And again, that might just be full-blown autism.
